Wow, it was an interesting shipment this month. First of all, things got a little sidetracked over the summer, so this is actually the first record pool shipment that I’ve received since May. And I just got it a few days ago, so I’m a bit late in reviewing it.
This shipment was really full of tracks that I liked. No real bangers, but as you can see by the extensive number of picks in the "warmup track" category, I found a lot of music that I liked. I found that there were a lot of tracks on the CD which were similar in style – a lighter progressive sound, very organic and somewhat trance-influenced. There was very little house music, and no real mainstream club tracks. That’s fine – I can always get major club hits from Beatport. I found it interesting that I played at a party in New Hampshire last night, and did an entire set of "warmup tracks" from past RRP shipments, and just about everyone at the party seemed to prefer that style to bigger club tracks.
I’ll have the October record pool shipment review online shortly too, and of course, I’ll be announcing winners of the "Global Underground (Alone In New York)" remix contest on Tuesday morning.
